Today’s video follows the sad news that Virgin Atlantic is to retire all their Boeing 747’s with immediate effect due to the ongoing crisis.
As any aviation enthusiast can agree, losing an operator for the Queen of the Skies is bad enough, but it has such greater magnitude when it happens so close to home. From my first visits to all three airports featured, the staple feature has always been the Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747. This aircraft will be missed from the global skies, especially so for Manchester and Gatwick, who now both lack scheduled Boeing 747 services.
I’ve put together this short compilation as a mark of respect to this great aircraft, including all of my footage of Virgin’s 747’s filmed over the last 10 or so years for you all to enjoy, as well.
Further to this, Virgin have announced they are axing operations out of Gatwick for the short-term future, as well as retiring their four Airbus A330-200 aircraft they acquired only 3 years ago from Air Berlin. A truly sad day for British aviation…
