It’s time to fly on Asiana Airlines from Seoul Incheon Airport to Taipei Taoyuan Airport in their Royal Business Class in the Boeing 747-400. I was lucky to be able to snatch seat 1A and sit in the nose of the airplane.
Asiana Airlines discontinued their first class services on most of their aircraft as of 1 September 2019. The first class cabin on their 747’s is now sold as Royal Business Class which basically means Business class service in a first class cabin.
It is quite noticeable this is a very old first class cabin and can absolutely not compete with today’s first class cabins but for a short flight like this from Seoul to Taipei it was a good enough and fun experience as I am sure Asiana Airlines will eventually phase out their 747’s altogether as other airlines will do or have already done so.
This flight was supposed to be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER originally that had Asiana’s more modern Business Smartium business class. But after two aircraft changes (first to an Airbus A380 which also has the Business Smartium product and then to this Being 747-400 that does not have it) I ended up in this older first class cabin.
