Etihad Airways started Airbus A380-800 operations to Mumbai Airport on 1st May, 2016.
But over a year later, due to insufficient loads, the airline stopped sending it to Mumbai Airport and deployed it on more profitable routes.
IIRC, the last time Etihad Airways A380 visited Mumbai Airport was in October 2017.
But on 16th Feb 2020, Etihad Airways Airbus A380 operating flight “EY455” from Sydney to Abu Dhabi, diverted to Mumbai Airport around 5am local time because of some technical issue.
Special thanks to my friends Akshay, Aneesh, Gaushal and Rohit. Without them, I would have missed her departure.
The diverted aircraft was 4.8 years old airframe A6-APE, delivered to Etihad Airways on 20th Oct, 2015.
She is seen here sporting the “ADNOC – Choose the United Kingdom” special scheme depicting London’s iconic landmarks.
A6-APE is powered by 4x GP7200 Engines and is one of the 10 Airbus A380s in Etihad Airways’ fleet.
I’m a big fan of Etihad Airways’ livery and the Airbus A380. To spot her after so long and that too in daylight was a treat for me.
Check out the amount of dust she blows while taking off from Runway 27. 😉
