Hello everyone and thank you for watching this PlanesWeekly video!
On Tuesday June 2nd 2020, the spotters at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) were treated with quite a sight. China Southern Airlines flight CZ329 went around at an altitude of around 1500 feet following what appeared to be an unstable approach. This is particularly evident on the second approach, which led to a successful landing, where the pilot applied significant inputs to the flight control surfaces. Oddly enough, the wind was relatively calm at the airport, but wind shear on approach made life difficult for the pilots of this Airbus A380. However, smaller aircraft did not appear to have any issues in these weather conditions.
Coincidentally, China Southern is the only commercial operator of the A380 in the midst of the coronavirus-pandemic, so seeing an A380 go around is especially rare at this time!
We hope you enjoy this footage.
Safe and happy flying!
