I’ve mentioned in previous videos I did some avionics upgrades in my plane, and several of you have asked what exactly I did.

What started as a small project to meet the ADS-B mandate and address a bad Attitude Indicator turned into a big one. I upgraded basically the entire panel of my 1980 Piper Archer with Garmin products.

I already had a GTN 650, and I added the GTX 345 transponder, dual G5 EFIS instruments, the GMA 350c audio panel, GTR 225 Com receiver, JPI EDM 830 engine monitor, Flightstream 510, and the GFC 500 Autopilot.

The end result: A very capable hybrid panel that qualified the plane as a Technologically Advanced Aircraft, or TAA.

It’s been transformed into a highly capable basic trainer, instrument platform, and incredibly easy cross-country machine. I love it. My leaseback customers love it. What’s not to love!?!
