    • +Thomas Reutter Thanks for watching! I recorded some RV-12 build video but it was not watchable. I haven't worked on the kit recently but I am now counting days to my retirement which will allow me to focus on it full-time and get it done.

    • @sopilote56 Will you be jumping again? I recommend going through the AFF course and getting licensed. Afterall, all skydivers are glider pilots. We fold our glider up and stuff it in a back pack. Blue Skies!

    • @Slartybarfast B Thanks for watching! I do plan to do a few more jumps prior to testing my home-built airplane. I want to make sure I am ready to use my emergency chute if needed.

    • @Alias Incognito I did two tanfems ten years apart. AFF a week after the second tandem. Have my C and had a Coach rating. Everyone goes different speeds. I think the biggest hurdle early on (maybe fifty jumps) is that big step out the door and the anxious plane ride. Tandems can ease that a bit. I definitely think if someone is willing to jump out of an airworthy airplane they should get the full basic instruction.

  • I've always wondered what I look like on radar when I deploy my parachute at 10,000 feet. Only occasional, but that altitude does put me up there with some fast airplanes!

    • Slartybarfast B I have been told by multiple air traffic controllers and F-16 pilots flying out of the nearby air reserve base that they do not see slow moving targets on their radar. Not gliders and not parachutes. Seems like the big midair hazard is hitting another skydiver while scooting around in free-fall. No?

    • @sopilote56 High pulls, 7k-12k feet, are not a good idea at busy drop zones like my home DZ. We sometimes have as many as three turbine jump ships active simultaneously. One being loaded, one climbing, and another on jump run. If it's slow, or the last load of the day, there is no danger of collision with other jumpers. The high pull guy simply exits the airplane last. If the DZ is busy, you could fly 90° away from jump run for a time to gain spacing.

      That's interesting info about radar missing slow targets. I've considered carrying aluminum foil streamers on high pull jumps. It sounds like that wouldn't help much.

  • Why the Cajun music? Is there a Boudreaux in the bunch? Love the video. Looks like fun for both pilot and jumpers. Thanks for sharing.

    • +SEAtraveler Thanks for watching and commenting on the music selection at the end! Greg is a Cajun and the music was for him and his mom. He talks about his Louisiana roots while sitting on the couch near the start of the video.
