Waco Dave has been restoring a Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing so I had to pay him a visit to check on the progress. I am always on the hunt for something historic and Staggerwings are rich in history and beauty. They were used for executive military transport during WWII in the United States Army Air Forces, and thanks to a handful of folks dedicated to the preservation of them, many are still airworthy. I really look forward to seeing the progress of this full restoration in my hometown of St. Augustine, FL and eventually getting a chance to be behind the wheel of a Staggerwing. One of my favorite features on this aircraft besides the staggered wing is the ability to switch the yoke over from the left seat to the right seat. There’s also a visible bicycle chain from the yoke to the pedestal, and manual windows.
